Research and Education Networks exist in many regions of the world. These networks typically serve the broader University community, however, they often can be leveraged to support a broader mission, including humanitarian efforts. This panel will include experts from the United States, Africa, Europe, and South America to explore the use of research and education networks to serve humanitarian goals. It will provide an introduction to research and education networking from around the world and will then provide some specific examples of leveraging these networks for broader purposes.

Dale Smith, International Networking Coordinator at the University of Oregon's Network Startup Resource Center gives his Connectivity and Communications track discussion at the 2012 GHTC
