In this presentation, Zak Kassas presents how we can navigate with megaconstellations of low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites. First, the opportunities offered by LEO megaconstellations are highlighted, followed by the challenges that must be addressed if we want to exploit these satellites opportunistically for navigation purposes. The presentation also shows real-world positioning and navigation results with Orbcomm, Iridium, and Starlink LEO satellites on stationary receivers and mobile ground vehicles. It also shows a glimpse to the future with simulation results presenting the expected navigation performance of an aerial vehicle when the Starlink LEO constellation is completely launched.

It was presented as part of the 10 November 2022, IEEE LEO SatS Workshop: Working in Space Together. For more information on the IEEE LEO SatS project, visit https://cmte.ieee.org/futuredirections/projects/leo-satellites-systems/
