There are many places around the world where people do not have access to power or electricity. Engineers today are using the ideas for solar power to hopefully develop ways that people who live off the grid will be able to have access to such resources. The solar technology that they are developing is relatively cheap and it is able to last for a long period of time. Also, since the technology is run by the sun, they don't have to worry about harming the environment or running out of energy.
