Climate change is the world’s biggest problem, and it will be one of the hardest to solve. The operation of human society depends on the consumption of energy, and today’s accelerating construction of renewable energy can’t keep up with the growing demands of our hotter planet. Energy efficiency -- getting optimal value from every watt -- is the most critical and least talked-about change that humanity requires. More than 50% of the world’s electricity is consumed by motors. And more than 95% of the world’s motors are based on an AC induction design patented in the 19th century.
Turntide Technologies was founded with a focus of reducing the effects of carbon pollution where the energy is consumed. Its mission is to upgrade all the world’s motors with intelligent, optimal motor systems so every watt is worthwhile for humanity. We’ve developed over 100 patents on our Optimal Efficiency Motor, and embedded it in a Platform for Sustainable Operations that integrates the motor with intelligent systems to eliminate the energy waste from buildings, agriculture, and transport. [For more information, see the article about reluctance drive on page 11 of the June 2021 issue of IEEE SPECTRUM Magazine.]
