IIT’s research vision is the development of human-centered science and technologies through the merging of skills and expertise in four research domains: robotics, nanomaterials, lifetech and computational sciences. Globally aging populations and demographic changes will require new, innovative, and sympathetic approaches to all aspects of human life. Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) have great potential to assist, augment, and empower humans. At IIT, researchers are working in a wide range of areas including Biomedical Robotics, Dynamic Legged Systems, Event-Driven Perception for Robotics, Human-Robot Interfaces and Physical Interaction, and Social cognition in human-robot interaction. In all of these areas, research is strongly focused on applications, often in collaboration with researchers outside of the robotics domain – such as new materials for robotics, machine learning, biomedical applications. https://www.iit.it
