The IEEE Humanitarian Technologies Board Ad Hoc Committee on SIGHT Best Practices cooperated with a number of IEEE OUs including IEEE Philadelphia Section SIGHT, IEEE SSIT IST-Africa SIGHT, IEEE Bahrain Section SIGHT, IEEE Karachi SIGHT, IEEE UK and Ireland SSIT Chapter and IEEE Region 8 Climate Change Committee to organise this Lecture as part of a Series of Best Practice Lectures. 

The lecture focused on "Bringing Quality Education to Underserved Communities in Latin America and Pakistan".

Miriam Cunningham (IST-Africa Institute, Ireland) provided a context for the Lecture Series and a brief introduction to IEEE Humanitarian Technologies Board and the activities of the IEEE HTB Ad Hoc Committee on SIGHT Best Practices. 

Prof Parkash Lohana (Usman Institute of Technology, Pakistan) provided a context on what quality education means in different contexts and presented an ongoing project that is creating an inclusive learning environment using assistive technologies in the Umerkot district of Sindh province of Pakistan.

Prof Pritpal Singh (Villanova University, USA) presented results from projects in Guatemala and Ecuador that are providing access to educational resources and have supported local capacity building.
