Mario Milicevic is a Communication Systems Engineer at MaxLinear Inc. in Irvine, CA, where he is responsible for the development of algorithms and system-on-chip architectures for high-performance broadband and networking semiconductor products. He received the Ph.D. degree from the Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Toronto in 2017, where his research focused on the design of error-correction decoders for integrated circuits and quantum cryptography. An out-of-the-box thinker with excellent execution, team leadership, and time management skills, Mario holds expertise in the design, development, and testing of integrated circuits and systems for digital communications and quantum cryptography applications.
Mario is also the Past Chair of the global IEEE Young Professionals Committee. During his term as Chair from 2015 to 2016, Mario focused on the strategic development and delivery of the IEEE Young Professionals program to over 120,000 IEEE members worldwide and across multiple IEEE operating units, including Member and Geographic Activities, Technical Activities, and IEEE-USA. In 2015, Mario helped launch the first IEEE global entrepreneurship conference – IEEE N3XT – in collaboration with the IEEE Entrepreneurship Initiative, and brought exposure to the IEEE Young Professionals program at high profile global events such as the International Consumer Electronics Show, SXSW, and Web Summit. In 2016, he scaled the initiative to expand the presence of Young Professional activities at flagship IEEE Technical Society conferences such as GLOBECOM and ISCAS, and worked with IEEE staff and volunteers in the early development of a 3-year business plan for the IEEE Young Professionals program.
