Dr. James Truchard, National Instruments president and CEO, cofounded the company in 1976. Under Truchard's leadership, NI equips engineers and scientists with tools to accelerate productivity, innovation, and discovery through a pioneered approach of graphical system design that utilizes LabVIEW software and modular hardware to revolutionize the way scientists and engineers solve the toughest engineering challenges. Truchard has been inducted into the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences as well as the National Academy of Engineering. He also is a former member of Texas Gov. Rick Perry's Advisory Council on the Digital Economy. Truchard was named one of America’s Favorite CEOs by FORBES magazine, and Worth magazine named him one of the best CEOs for three consecutive years. He has spoken at the World Congress of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the Academy of Medicine, Engineering and Science of Texas, and in many other esteemed technology forums. Truchard holds a doctorate in electrical engineering as well as bachelor’s and master’s degrees in physics.
